As you gear up to watch your favorite team during March Madness, do you wonder how the coach put the team together and keeps everyone contributing at peak performance? The Small Business Center of Surry Community College will offer a new series of seminars focused on Human Resource Management that will assist small business owners in forming their winning teams. All four of these seminars will meet from 6:15-8:45pm at the college’s Center for Public Safety, located at 1220 State Street in Mount Airy.
The series begins with “Find Your Winning Team – Recruiting, Interviewing, and Selection” on Monday, March 3, 2014. This session will explore non-traditional and creative recruiting strategies, as well as proven behavioral based interviewing techniques and best practices within the selection process. On March 10, we will help you keep your best players with “Retention and Performance Appraisals”. This session will take an in depth look at “employee motivational” factors that increase workforce retention, as well as the fundamentals of an effective performance appraisal process. “Creating a Vision and High Performance Team” will be the topic of the seminar on March 17. We will focus on the organization’s value proposition and culture identity, as well as the framework to develop high performing work teams. The series concludes on March 24 with “Walk the Talk— Effective Communications and Networking”. Attendees may attend one or all of the seminars in this free series.
Pre-registration is required for these sessions by emailing Susan Coble at cobles@surry.edu or calling the Small Business Center at 336-386-3685. The Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring this series. Visit the chamber’s website at http://www.mtairyncchamber.org for information on how the chamber can assist your business.
