The Small Business Center of Surry Community College is excited to announce our partnership with Google and the Piedmont Triad Region Small Business Technology Development Center to assist small businesses to “Get Your Business Online”. Google’s “Get Your Business Online” (GYBO) week takes place March 24 – 28, 2014 with an exciting line-up of live streamed workshops. The Small Business Center will host these free viewings each day from 12:45 until 3pm at the Elkin Center, located at 1461 North Bridge Street in Elkin.

According to Google statistics, 69% of North Carolina businesses do not have a website although 97% of internet users look for local goods and services online. In the next 3 years, businesses that make use of the web expect to grow 40% faster than businesses that don't have an online presence.

On Tuesday, March 25, the topic is “Build a Free Website and Website Best Practices”. The web is where we go to find things, so it’s more important than ever that every local business have an online presence. The workshop presented on Wednesday, March 26 is “Get Online, Get on the Map, Get Help for Your Business.” Make sure your business can be found on the web, in Search and Maps, with a free business listing on Google. “Expand Your Online Presence” is the topic for Thursday, March 27. We’ll cover free tools for monitoring your business online and you’ll learn how to manage it on-the-go. The workshops conclude on Friday, March 28 with “Measuring Success with Website Analytics” where the small business owner will learn to measure website traffic to understand customers and improve their online business.
