Joe,
And no one calls their local farmer or logger when their neighbors are drunk and fighting, the logger and farmer aren’t expected to arrest drug dealers and murderers, and loggers and farmers aren’t assaulted or murdered just for choosing farming and logging as their career like the officers in Dallas. The study says what it says just because you don’t like it what it says doesn’t mean it’s incorrect.

Joe,
And we get tired of hearing you say that law enforcement doesn’t make the top 10 list, no one said that it did and no one said that it is the most dangerous job, but it is dangerous and implying that it isn’t is being disingenuous.

So is logging but you don't hear loggers said they risk their lives everyday. Farmers deal with all kinds of engine driven equipment everyday that will kill or injure you in a second but you don't hear them go on about how dangerous their job is or that they risk their lives everyday.

By the way the DOL top ten study counted both deaths and injuries and your bunch still didn't make it. If the info in your kink where correct then they would be in the top ten but they aren't.

I never said that cops don't have a dangerous job just that its not as bad as people like to make it sound.

G&G,

This is from the Elkin Tribune,

Following the funeral, the procession will travel along U.S. 421 South to Macedonia Baptist Church in Ronda for a private burial. The public can view the procession along U.S. 421 and on side roads, with specifics being announced Thursday morning, but Baker asked that people not park in private driveways.

If anyone knows the route of the funeral procession or a link to the route could you please post it? Thanks.

FYI,

While LEO job related deaths do not make the national top 10 list, LEO's are 3 times more likely to be injured than other workers.

The number of police officers murdered in the past few years makes law enforcement seem like a dangerous calling to me.

I get so tired of hearing that cops put their life on the line every day. Being a cop doesn't even make the top ten dangerous jobs. The trash collector, truck driver, farmers all have a more dangerous job than a cop.

I do not think it was his intend to end a life, he made a bad choice, for he was afraid, I do not feel like the murder charge is right, yes, alluding arrest, and endangerment to others, but for real, I read the chase was like 3 minutes, not sure it was high speed, the officers had to get in their cars after he run thur the traffic check, that probably took 1 minute and then pursue the car for 2 minutes, not sure speed was a factor.... it is a lost for all, each involved, make a decision that changed lives, have they checked the troopers car for any malfuctions, that may have been a factor, yes he was doing his job backing up a fellow officer..... yes the offender had no license and pending charges for not appearing in court, he should have just stopped and took it like a man, but he did not want to go to jail, and if the car was registered to another why was she letting him drive it, she had to know.... Makes me question a lot of things, if I cut a power line and the lineman died trying to repair it would I be charged with murder, because he died doing his job, we all go into our roles of work knowing the dangers and limits... I am not blaming anyone.... each had a choice to make, but if he had revolved license failed court dates, due to traffic volations due to traffic offenses is he a danger to the public, if not why risk your life or others, including innocent people whom have nothing to do with this,.... let it go, go arrest later, I am sure they have web cams to back it up.... I pray God will be with all involved... I am not the judge but God is, I pray peace for all involved, and am not trying to point blame at no one....

I got pulled over on my motorcycle on 421 near yadkinville. the trooper asked " do you know why I pulled you over?"

My reply.." yes...because I let you."

He laughed as he wrote the ticket

Most agency's have policy to no longer chase sports bikes either. When some one blows by at 150mph plus its a no win situation

aFiclo:: if'in out of car working traffic & then getting into pursuit, they'd probably be closer to 3-4 miles ahead. Radio for chopper or any officer within nxt 3 mile markers. Then continue work in progress...

Many town and county departments around have stopped high speed chases because of the danger. I think Charlotte has made officers stop. If you are parked on the side of the road, and a car passes running 100, do you understand how fast you have to run to catch them? And how long it will take? Before you can take off they are already going to be 3/4 of a mile ahead of you. Now add to that if you are out of the vehicle working a traffic stop, then have to run to your car and take off.

It’s easy to second guess folks. Especially when things go badly.
I’m sure the powers that be will do a root cause analysis and use this tragedy to better prepare for other similar situations.
