Oogie, you fail to mention that at one time the laws of NC forbade interracial marriage. Same sex marriage is no different.

Crap like this is what makes me hate what Obama and his goons have done to the federal government. I'm like fiesta on this. I don't care what the gays do. If the people of NC or any state pass laws then Holder and his goons shouldn't have the power to come in here and tell us we are wrong. If they can't get people to follow what they believe then they either use a federal judge to overrule our laws or they get some group to sue us. They use the judicial wing of the government to overide the vote. I'm glad Holder is gone but I am fearful his predessor with be no better. Why should our citizens even vote on issues. The freaking Socialist are going to tell us how we should believe and conduct our lives.

What if you and your spouse have not seen each other in 10 years and you want to marry someone else? You can't do it legally unless you divorce your first spouse.

These female teachers who fall in love with teenaged boys in their classes can't marry the "men" that they love until the state says that the teenager is old enough to get married.

You can't marry one person of the opposite sex no matter how much you love them without going down to the courthouse and getting a marriage license.

The idea that you can marry whomever you want is absurd. The state could certainly get out of the marriage business, but it has not and there is no indication that it will".

FP, ditto. Also, didn't We, the People have a vote on that? So the "breaking news" is, The people's vote does not mean anything, and at least FP and I could care less.

It doesn't matter what the government calls it, a true marriage is between one man and one woman. A gay couple will never really be married. It will never be anything other than a civil union. That being said I personally couldn't care less if a gay couple gets a legal civil union or not.
