No wise crack at you cc. Caja:: I've probably been to more stills than you've ever dreamed or thought about... My younger days, 90 proof not of my doing was a NO sell.. Well maybe a pint or quart....

I said 90 just because that’s my cut off for the low end.

Marie as far as moonshine goes when it first drips it might be close to 190, and entire run usually averages around 130 and most shiners would often proof their shine or cut it for a layman to around 90-100.

But like we've previously discussed, you aren't that smart.

Only 90 proof bourbon I really enjoy is Elmer T Lee or Buffalo Trace.....but barrel proof is where it's at.

Moonshine is way too raw for my taste, but enjoy the tradition.

90 proof Bourbon?

Newbie?

I'd prefer Barrel proof and most of the quality brands I enjoy are at the very least 100 proof. Maybe you should switch to Canadian Whiskey or something.

I make some lemonade shine that keeps a pretty good kick considering how much you have to mix in it. But it’s still a long way from the kick of a good 90 proof Bourbon.

Oh yeah , I do think they started out with good shine and ruined it with their flavoring process .

I just tried lemon shine a couple days ago and it was like a mixed drink in a bar . Flavored well but I thought was weak . My friends say I hold my liquor well but it took 3/4 of a quart for me to catch a fair buzz. I wouldn't have paid 30 a quart that my friend did .

As a woman, aFiclo you know NOTHING about making Moonshine, & sure Amax propane is the way to go fo sure, no smoke yet very pricey & about the only option anyone has except a Kerosene Furnace which is much as the same... pricey.. Has any of you Kids ever seen a real still place, carried any Coke, sugar & so on? These old Corn fed girls have....

A friend gave me some with pineapple tasted it and it was awful, Stuck it in the cabinet, probably a year later my son found it and said this really good. Apparently pineapple needs some soak time

"I've seen people add fruit, of course; usually peaches, but maybe cherries? What are some favorites?"

A friend and myself bought a case, via Charlotte, and each jar had a different fruit; cherries, strawberries, mixed berries, pineapple, orange, mixed berries, etc. Both our favorite was the orange. It knocked off some of the bite and had the best flavor. Pineapple was probably our second favorite. I've since decided I had rather buy it straight and not waste my money on the space the fruit takes up.

I've made apple pie using a Crock Pot to slowly heat the spices, sugars and juices.

Hangs:: Is that SUB Shine or the old fashioned way. Coke for burners is not available local as in the past?? Well, last i heard years back WVA. was the closest place to get it, no profit there....

"OK" shine is about all you're going to find these days. They just don't make it like they use to. Yet White Raisins, about 1 cup per quart or less makes a pretty good wash. Raisins not bad either....
