Moonshine

I would normally agree, but in this I'm not talking about "good" shine, just "OK" shine

Would you guys like to share any other ideas that would cut out the harshness but wouldn't make it quite so weak?

I've seen people add fruit, of course; usually peaches, but maybe cherries? What are some favorites?

And I've read a popular recipe where people melt Jolly Ranchers in a little water, and then mix it with the moonshine.

To each his own... but I wouldn't waste good shine making apple pie.

Just too perk it up.... Add 1/2 gallon moonshine..

You could always add more moonshine or vodka if you want. But yes that's essentially the recipe. Make sure the mixture cools entirely and you'll want to strain it before adding the alcohol.

Just for the sake of discussion, let's assume that you have moonshine with a very harsh flavor, and you really just want to make it taste better, not weaker.

The recipes I'm finding online are basically:

2 cups apple juice
2 cups apple cider
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick

Slow-boil for 20 minutes, adding the cinnamon in the last 5 minutes. Let cool, then mix with:

1/2 cup moonshine
1/4 cup vodka (whipped cream flavored vodka optional)

But that seems VERY watered down to me, basically cutting 150 proof liquor to a 30-35 proof c*cktail

I suppose it depends on how much kick you want it to have :)

Don’t do that. Use the same amount of liquor. Keep some strength to it. Those recipes online are watered down to the point of being similar to mixed drinks in a restaurant.

Use less moonshine than the recipe calls for vodka. For example if the recipe calls for 2 cups of vodka or bourbon, replace that with 1 1/2 cups of Moonshine. Other than that it's pretty much the same......

Would anyone care to share an easy recipe for Apple Pie Moonshine? I'm asking for a "friend"... the only recipes I can find involve mixing with vodka.

Most folks today have no idea what you are talking about "coke" burner. Don't put coke in the coal stove for it will burn through your grates.

Well you left that out. Being he was talking about making moonshine, given you left out the age it would be logical for one to assume he's an adult.

My brothers and I were having a conversation about a man that brought dump truck loads of honey buns from Winston years ago to make his mash with. I was a child at the time and thoroughly enjoyed a honeybun off the truck not knowing what it was meant for. My dad delivered and sold a few gallons but as far as I know he didn't make any.

Here's another idea. First, no one is really trying to bust moonshiners any more. As long as you don't make a huge deal out of it, no one cares. I can find at least 10 times more places to buy bootleg liquor than legal liquor without thinking twice. Then, on top of that, it's 2017. Do like most the others and use a gas or electric burner. No smoke and no smell.

Your nephew is an idiot.

So he thinks he's the only one that's came up with that idea before?
