30% for workers comp. That's pretty steep.

Right Fiesta, Underdog can say what he thinks about the president (which is what he did) without being censored (other than a threat, etc.). If you would like to correct someone then perhaps you should correct gogetit4545, because it appears they were the ones that wish to show us what it is.

No actually it means that the government can't stop him from saying what he wants, not that he gets to say what he wants. That is a popular misconception and a huge difference.

Jason determines what is and isn't said here and it has nothing to do with freedom of speech.

Now back to topic.

You worth determines your pay. If you earn a team owner $400 million a year then you are a bargain with a $40 million a year salary to play basketball. If you earn your restaurant owner $30 an hour waiting tables then you are not worth $15 per hour pay. It is basic business sense. You want more pay make yourself more valuable. Also remember there are a lot more costs to employee you than your pay. For instance my workers comp insurance rate is 36.4% of the employees payroll. If I pay you $15 I pay insurance over $5 so your total cost is now over $20. Then add other hidden costs too and you will find you are already paid much more than you think.

But there are others who are pushing the same agenda as the prez, or it wouldn't be such a hot topic. I'm all about paying the military well, but please explain what you mean when you say "food workers." If you mean farmers, etc., I can get behind that, but fast food/restaurant workers??? If you're a chef, who has a special talent, experience or education, you've earned a higher paying job than the fry cook at McD's. Sports players are paid what they are because there are few people in the world who can perform the way they do. They have a highly classified specialty skill, and everyone loves their sports entertainment. I don't have a beef with that. They earned their positions too. I'm sorry, I've done my time waiting tables, and I know it can be tough and thankless at times, but it isn't a $15/hr job. It just isn't. How many of these little restaurants around here would have to shut down if they had to pay their workers that much? They couldn't afford it, or they'd lay off staff and customers would get angry about waiting forever for food or a refill in iced tea. Business would drop off... Jobs are only worth so much.

I think underdog 2 is right on. This liar-in-chief believes that if one has more than the other ..even though he has worked for it..that it should be taken from the worker and given to the other. And now plenty of sorry arses expect it. Like I have a phone that I work and pay for, but then phones were given to those who expects things should just be 'given' to them. And again, most of these things are wants, not needs. That long legged mac-daddy community organizer has no clue. He has never had to work at a job.
The whole pay system is messed up. Look at what so called celebrities get paid, sports players....and look at food workers pay, and the armed forces. I DO think food workers should be paid well, and armed forces especially.

It will now become another who-can-spout-more-bs contest with the dog. He must be ignored, if we are to have any kind of discussion. Please. You must understand this.

Do you really think Obama is the cause of it all? What coollittlehot posted has nothing to do with what political party, race, or religion you are. Its about working hard and getting rewarded for your work. This is 2014 and I do not think Yadkin county people such as yourself shouldn't say that!!! Its people like you that run this place down. On every post! Why?? Why such ignorance!! Obama and his administration have made mistakes. Look back in history through the years! Corruption, money and down right GREED is the problem! NOT ONE person!

While reading your posts you seem to be educated. Are you?? Or are you just ignorant or misinformed? Or Using the web as an exit out of reality? I will be reading your every post and responding to them. Just to let you know The dog does not rule or reign! I will show you what free speech and freedom of press means!!

You are not wrong. Income inequality will always be pushed by people who do not want you to work hard and better oneself. They want it to be all equal. Basically destroy the American dream. Just like in school sports nowadays. Trophies for everyone?? I am not speaking at one person in particular or anything like that. Don't take it that way. The point is if you work hard you should get rewarded! If you don't you don't deserve it!!

I'm confused about why income inequality is such a huge issue lately. Why should a high school drop out expect to make as much or more than a graduate with, say, an associate's degree and a steady office job? I think, in this country, the person who really doesn't have the same opportunities as everyone else is few and far, far between. If a person works for it, and earns it, they deserve it. Not to mention, every job and skills set is only worth so much. Someone explain to me why I'm wrong.
