"A Matter of Faith" movie coming to Jonesville...

"Everything you could possibly want from a cross-on-its-sleeve movie about creationism in schools is in here. The token nods to a gross misunderstanding of science; the questioning of faith and subsequent parental disapproval; the Blando Calrissian three-point lighting and wholesome pastel colours; the dead eyes. This is a movie that chooses as its evolution straw man a chicken evolving from an egg. Best of all are the attempts to turn this essay into a movie. I could watch Biblical literalists proclaim "I'm out of the game!" set to pounding dramatic music until they got Raptured away, leaving me here with only A Matter of Faith to prove they ever existed."

Tickets are now available for online purchasing for the Christian movie "A Matter of Faith". Just visit the Starmount Crossing Cinema's website. If your are going to see it, I would recommend getting your tickets in advance, so you won't be turned away at the door due to too many people attending at the same time.

Evolution has a missing link. So, evolution has not been proven.

That is your belief and I respect it. It is hard for me to believe a book that can't be proven. You either believe or you do not. That is my belief.

Evolution is a proven fact, God is not. This movie is fiction. You people should get a life.

When Chris posts the same thread on numerous Go sites, he is in fact trying to force his beliefs down our throats.

No smalltown is dead on it. I might add along with the cramming is brain washing. Chirs is one sided and wont bend even when he has been proven wrong. This is brain washing. Chris also has disappeared for quite some time because he was finally beat down and he saw no future here and moved on to easier prey.

How are the snakes doing chirs?

Chris is correct on this. We have the choice to read it, or, not. There is no cramming as I can see.

Smalltown...I would have to disagree. If I take a stand for what I believe, you call it "shoving my beliefs down your throats". However, evolution literally is crammed down people's throats, without the option to opt out, and dared to be questioned! What is wrong with this picture? Your logic is a double standard.

There are legitimate scientific objections to the theory of evolution, that is not even addressed, or even acknowledged in schools across the country, and the alternative is not even allowed to be taught, because it is played off as strictly "religious".

You come across as someone who thinks that I should be tolerant of everyone else's views. If this is true, then why aren't you tolerant of my views? Again...a double standard.

Btw...you have the choice to accept or reject what I say, and you don't have to continue listening, or visiting this thread for that matter. You know what you are going to hear, if you do come here. If you choose to come here to read what I have to say, then you forfeit the right to claim that I am "shoving my beliefs down your throat" or anyone else for that matter, because you choose to come here, knowing what I'm going to say.

Chris, I'm going to say this as nice as I can. It's "christians" like you who are turning people off to the message of salvation by shoving your views down their throats.

I am sorry but I haven't had time to look those verses up. John 3:16 is a good example though. I happened to have my concordance under my nightstand so I looked up begotten used in that verse. Obviously we know God doesn't have a wife and made a baby with her. It was a variance of a few Greek words meant to show the meaning of "created, sole or only, and from the same matter or like its creator". Jesus being the Son of God was equal to God. That makes perfect sense.

I don't have time to look up an example for you now about the begots but if I have time later I will. It is a popular misconception that can completely change your outlook on the Bible.

I personally don't believe in a mixture of creationism and evolution though I have heard some try to. I believe the Bible tells us that God created everything at a point in the timeless past in Genesis 1:1. In Genesis 1:2 it picks up with the beginning of human history and the creation of man in its current form. I don't think evolution occurred at all and so far all fossil records support that belief. I do believe a lot happened between the creation of man and the creation of the universe. Dinosaurs lived and died out. Light from distant galaxies reached earth. Meteors crashed info the earth. Etc. Modern science supports all this history and nothing in the Bible contradicts it. Humans I do not believe have been here that long. How long I do not know.

fiesta, your comments are well taken, the author of the article I posted was speaking to the folks who advocate the New Earth or Young Earth position, ie: the earth is 6000 years old. Chris, who started this thread has often stated in his position that the earth is 6000 years old and that evolution is not fact since the Book of Genesis does not support it.

The passage of time, as described in Genesis and other books of the Bible is not consistent with how we express time now, so how long, in today's time, were the 7 days described in Genesis?

I also must have a different dictionary than you do Begot is most often described as "to procreate or generate", which is different than, in your words, to become an ancestor of.

Fiesta,

Due to the sketchy timelines in the Bible with folks living to be 700=900 years old it is not possible to accurately come up with a date for the creation of Adam & Eve..

And the oral stories, two of them about the creation that conflict, and the few short days needed to create the earth and leaving out first the sun and universe vs billions of years that we now know leave a lot of skeptical folks who doubt the accuarcy of Genesis.

You quote a mixture of creationism and evolutionism, you can use one or the other, but not both. The Bible rules out evolution period.
