I have worked at polling stations--supporting one or another. (sheriff, commissioner, etc.) And over the years, I have regretted three that I worked for. However, with our knowledge at the time, we do the best we can. And we cannot help, or know, that they are going to change once they get in.

Just go vote for who you believe will do the best job. Look at all the candidates, and pick one that is honest, educated, smart, has made a difference, been stable, and is mature enough to place good people in positions (at the sheriffs office) to protect yadkin county's future. Remember people will make all kinds of promises when they are seeking what they want, but don't burn down bridges and friendships over a hope of four years of employment when those friendships where created over a life time. It's amazing the choices people make in hopes of something, but in the end, regardless how it works out, what are you left with? Will that person who used you for his vote and support be there after may 6, or will they still be your friend four years from now? And if you can't answer that - ask yourself "where were they a year ago?" Was they your friend then?

I agree. What the hello is going on? It being a Rally, seems it should have certainly been a time for candidates to speak. May is quickly approaching.

I heard that none of our candidates for any county office got to speak last night at the GOP rally? Why is that? That should have been a perfect time to hear from everyone if you ask me?
We also have Dempsy Brewer from East Bend running for the Senate, and he wasn't allowed to speak, but his competition from another county was the main speaker? What the hello is going on?

There should be a debate/ or some kind of question and answer assembly. A sheriff is suppose to be for the people, as he/she is elected, so it would only make sense to have them all together to learn a bit about them/where they stand. I have only heard Sheriff Oliver speak...different events, but a debate is needed.

Has anyone heard them speak, or is there going to be a debate?

Well, I finally saw some Talley signs scattered around, and a few more people talking about him because he's not connected to the political machine like the other two, so in thier opinion that might be a better choice?
I see that Oliver has a Facebook page now, and I saw some professionally made signs, and I hear he has Jack Henderson campaigning hard for him.
I see that Ball has offered both Farron Jester and Rusty Hunter positions if he wins? I'll admit, I see some ball signs in places that I'm surprised to see?
What's this I hear about the Yadkinville Police Department having a falling out with the Sheriffs Department?

We need Eric Williams back. He was the best manager this county ever had.

And the way you get rid of an arrogant jerk is vote for commissioner candidates that will can him if elected.

Looks as if someone posted that I somehow linked the sheriff to the county manager. I most certainly did not do that. I have no idea what interactions, if any they have had. I have no idea what opinion they may have of each other. Aaron Church?-- an arrogant jerk. The Sheriff and the other candidates for the office?-- all of them that I have met have been courteous and rendered the help that I requested .

Nature,
Good point. I guess perhaps nothing. Maybe pulling him over on his harley's every chance they get is a start lol. Just figure in the whole political/networking thing where they all know and back each other up, that something would be done. That Cain stole enough money from us that if it were anyone else, they'd be in jail, paying massive fines, and also be forced to liquidate assets to pay back what they stole. So the judge was lenient too... taxpayers get hosed again, as usual.
Why do people always vote immoral, crooked people into office? Why do all people in political offices take advantage of their power? Makes me sick.

I don't think any incumbents should be re-elected, in general. Haven't seen any elected official who did not waste money, or abuse their power, or act in a completely ethical manner. Yes, we're all human but being an elected official implies a promise that you'll never misbehave or do something you shouldn't while in office.
As for the Oliver guy, I know people who are involved in his inner circle. Based upon things I've heard, I definitely will be voting for someone different. The prior sheriff stole taxpayer money (from what I understand) and is still riding around on some Harley Davidson motorcycles he purchased with the stolen funds. His replacement-- Oliver-- did nothing to get them back and restore the money back to the taxpayers. FAIL on that = no re-election in my opinion.

Not sure that Ball is my first choice. But a candidate should not be faulted because of who supports, or not, his candidacy. Should your choice be faulted , because of you, because he is your favorite? Jesus is often faulted because of the imperfections of His followers. The faults are theirs', not His.
