The little boy got to come home last week

A student who was hit by a car at his bus stop in Surry County last week has been released from the hospital.

WFMY reported that Junior Gonzales was released from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Monday night.

Gonzales was waiting for his bus in Dobson when police say a driver hit him and never stopped, WFMY reported.

"I still remember everything clearly," Gonzales told WXII.

Gonzales remembers the car coming towards him and thinking he was going to die.

"Then I hear the car drifting and I look up and then I hear the girl screaming like ‘run get out of the way," Gonzales said. "I tried to run as fast as I can, I pushed a girl out of the way, tried to escape but I couldn't because the car hit my like right in this side. I think I hit my face, my side and chest and everything. I blacked out for three minutes. I thought I was dying." Gonzales told WXII.

Police are still investigating the incident and no arrests have been made in the investigation.

Two children were hit. One, Junior Gonzalez, had to be airlifted to Brenners. He's awake and his CT scans aren't showing any major damage, but they might have to do surgery later to catch any internal bleeding.

The other child was OK.

The suspect is possibly driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle should have damage to the front left (driver) side and possibly have a spare tire on the front left (drivers) side.
