I followed the rules and still got it, you could have right now and not even know it.
Several I know followed the rules, they had the mask before it was mandatory, they used bottles of hand sanitizer constantly and did all the due diligence to maintain distance but ended up getting it despite all their following the guidelines.

If by "1.5 million" you mean 515?
How many are wearing their cute little masks? But the "virus" is still here almost 9 months later?Masks do not protect the wearer from getting COVID, they prevent the wearer from spreading COVID. Huge difference.
How many times have you gone to the grocery store or somewhere and seen people walking around with a mask? If just one of those people have COVID then they can give it to every other person that enters that store or touches one of their products in the next 72 hours.
Think of it like this. In Wilkes county, 69,999 people could be wearing a mask, and the one person not wearing a mask has COVID (and may not even known it). That one person can infect the other 69,999.
The whole pandemic started with one person. 176,000 people in the US have died from COVID because one man in Washington State visited Wuhan, China in January:
