MILLERS CREEK MAN KILLED WHILE MOWING

Oogie

Mowing alongside roadways is dangerous. Some sources state that one out of every 10 drivers is impaired. The design of most riding mowers is such that mowing along a roadside and discharging the clippings away from the road requires the operator to ride with his/her back toward oncoming traffic.
There is today a petition to local, State and Federal lawmakers to make it unlawful to discharge grass clippings onto roadways.
To watch traffic while mowing, discharging the clippings toward the roadway is the only practical way. I don't like to do that, whether it is me or others doing it, but I would like to remain alive a bit longer.
The speed limit is 55 where I must mow beside the highway.
And my disability prevents me from using a string trimmer.
