At least there has been a precedent set and it gives people like you and I grounds to sue them if they don't allow an opt out option.

They lied to you regarding the meter. They cannot penetrate my perimeter anyway nor would they want to without permission. The AMI nullifies the easement due to what its capabilities are and is certainly unconstitutional. Like I said before, I'll run the military diesel before that trespassing technology is put on my property.

I spoke at length with both Duke and the vendor they are using to replace your old meters with "smart" ones. The bottom line... nothing you can do about it short of installing a cage around your meter or building a fenced-in yard complete with pitbulls to deter workers from changing out your meter.

You can be added to an "opt-out" list, which only means that your "smart" meter won't have the communications enabled in it. But even that's for only so long and Duke's plan is to have 100% of their customers on active smart meters.

Even if you can somehow secure your old meter, I'm not sure if Duke is actually obligated to provide power to anyone. It's not in the constitution that we have access to electricity... so what's to prevent Duke from disconnecting your house from their transformer if they don't like you for some reason?

There's a military grade diesel sitting here with plenty of fuel. If it comes to it, I'll just buy diesel and Duke can eat the big bill we pay them each month. It'll go to someone else and we;ll still have power.

Maybe we should all go off the grid...Alaska, maybe?

I have multiple reasons not to trust Duke. They do provide reliable electric service. But some of their business practices really are dishonest. Not sure about the meters and not sure what, if any thing, I can do about it.

Just type in dangers of smart meters and it brings up a bunch of sites. It will take considerable time to read about this subject. I've taken the time and they will not endanger my family with this technology.

One other tidbit of info is the energy company, politicians, and the manufactures will lie about the dangers of these devices so they can line their pockets. Your power bill will increase once the AMI is installed, and it must be replaced every few years at guess who's expense? The analogs last for decades because they are safely, well built and work just fine. They have the ability to read an analog according to them (Duke Energy) from a 1000 feet away. So they may continue to do just that here. When you refuse you may be threatened with disconnection and there are free downloads of documents you can send to the right folks. If they brings cops with them, politely remind the cops that this is a civil matter, not a criminal matter and is none of there concern. There are also downloadable documents you can print out for the law.

Also, the wifi that's used is not your personal connection, it's built into the meter. Many, many times more radiation is expelled from these units and passes through your body.

You don't control the meter whatsoever, Duke Energy does. Yes there is legal recourse for refusal. The energy companies have politicians in their pockets and put the liability off on someone else. Like I said, there's a ton of info out there and a man must do the research himself.

I don't think it's an option to refuse them. Wish I could, but I don't see how. Short of encasing the present meter in a giant glob of gorilla glue that is...

Not sure what you mean by "powerful and dangerous 2 way wifi" if all it does is access your home network (after you give permission, so you can control the "smart" features).

Anyone can tell if you are home or not just by looking in your driveway or seeing if there is activity in the home lol.

But seriously the bit about burning down houses is rather significant. I don't see how Duke could afford to be replacing everyone's houses if they were burning them down.

AMI meters are made of plastic components and have burned down many a house and business in other parts of the country. It is an extremely powerful and dangerous 2 way wifi that has the ability to selectively shut down certain appliances in your home and destroy your health. It spies on you and can tell when you are home or not. The info obtained from them is sold to 3rd parties without your consent. Please do the research for yourself. Do you really want one? Refuse Agenda 21 and 2030 tyranny.
