An 18-year-old has been charged with child abuse after his girlfriend's baby boy suffered a fractured femur.

Investigators said they received a report of child abuse involving the baby from Wilkes County's Department of Social Services.

Authorities said the incident happened in Yadkin County on Water Lane in Jonesville.

The baby was found to have a fractured femur after the mother and grandmother brought the child to be checked out by the child’s doctor in Wilkes County on Tuesday.

After an investigation took place on the same day, and the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office arrested the boyfriend of the child’s mother, Colby Holcomb.

Holcomb is charged felony intentional child abuse, serious bodily injury and felony assault serious bodily injury.

His bail was set at $12,500. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
