Joseph T. | Posted 5:53 pm, 05/31/2015 | No dog I don't I believe that my sons phone number once belong to whom ever they are looking for and they are calling it as their point of contact. The problem is they have now been notified 3 times that the phone number is no longer a valid contact yet they continue to call my 15 year old son everyday. |
I have been dealing with harassing phone calls on debt owed by the deadbeat that had the number I now have. I have had this phone # for six years, have informed the callers that J***** B**** does not live here, does not have the phone number, please talk me off your call list, etc. Still get at least one call a week, all from different phone numbers. When I google the numbers they all come up to a collection agency.

Have you been on your knees crying out to god for help on this situation or are you going to make a new religious thread?

A lawsuit wouldn't phase them anyway. They never learn and they are most likely in canada or another country where our laws do not apply. Did you ever call SYEMC and talk to a real person that can help you instead of service outage people?

Joe, don't threaten them with lawsuits or anything like that. Get all of the callers info, name, position, anything else you can, try to get a manager or higher up on the phone and get their info. Then very politely explain that you don't live in their area and never have, the phone belongs to a child, and when you hang up, your next call will be to WXII channel 12 to tell them about the problem. Then ask what time would be good for you and the reporter to meet with them for an interview.

Then complain to the board members I provided. Then check out article 8 under the utilities commission as to their authority.

Sorry but they don't this is taken from the utilities commission web site
Electricity Industry
The Commission does not regulate the rates and services of telephone cooperatives or electric cooperatives or municipal utilities. It does, however, have complaint jurisdiction over electric membership corporations (EMCs) in matters involving inadequate, insufficient, or unreasonably discriminatory service pursuant to G.S. 62-42. EMC's and municipalities are also required to obtain certificates from the Commission to construct electric generating facilities pursuant to G.S. 62-110.1 and certificates to construct electric transmission lines of 161 kilovolts or larger pursuant to G.S. 62-101.
Retail electric service is provided to consumers in North Carolina by investor-owned utilities (IOUs) and university-owned utilities subject to the jurisdiction of the Commission, electric membership corporations (EMCs), and municipally-owned electric utilities. A customer obtains electric service from the utility providing service to that area. The Commission regulates all aspects of service provided by the IOUs, but does not regulate the retail rates of EMCs or municipally-owned electric systems.
Per a discussion with the utilities commission I have been informed that NC electric co-ops are under the jurisdiction of The NC Rural Electrification Authority

That's what I want to know. According to all the paperwork I get from SYEMC the commission has plenty of say.

Why does the commission have no say.

| send their ceo an email and quote the law to him and also tell him about a complaint to the utilities commission. See if you can get his *** on the phone Monday morning and ask him where his is sitting so you can be sure and have the arrest warrant sent to the right person in charge. Bet it stops.
| They are an electric co-op and as such the utilities commission has no say over them

Block the number on the phone. Problem solved.
If they have sent a letter about a non paid bill in your sons name then someone has used his name to get service

I see the guy who reads the meter pull in the drive now and then. That's the only contact I have with them. They send my billing statement by email each month and I pay online.
