The only qualification i am aware of, is you have to be able to breathe.

I'm just curious if anyone knows the requirements for being a referee in the MVYAC football conference (grades 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th and 5th-6th)? Clearly these people either need more training or need to learn to call games more fairly! Blocking in the back, face mask, holding and all other penalties should be called both ways, not just against the visiting teams. The kids who are playing aren't learning anything if the flags aren't being thrown consistently against both teams. If a kid is holding and the "home" ref doesn't throw a flag then that kid thinks it's ok to hold. On the flip side, if a kid is being held and there is no flag then that kid thinks that he/she can do it. It's ludicrous for anyone to think that these practices are fair for any of the kids!
