Sure grab two or three. Probably have to get someone else to pet them though. Hard to pet a wild bear with no hands or arms.

I had one cross the parkway in front of me one time just pass where Calloway gap rd. and Lump rd. meet the BRP. It came out of the woods on the Wilkes side cross right in front of us and disappeared into the woods on the Ashe side.

This one looked a lot like the ones I've seen in captivity at Grandfather Mountain.
Except that it looked younger and not quite so fat.
Definitely not big foot. I used to work for her.

I've heard of bears being around here, but I've never actually seen one in the wild.

I don't think that the law allows you to keep them as pets, but you're always welcome to pet and play with the cubs as long as you do so in the presence of the mother. Please do this and report back to me about the experience.
