Did you stop to think that they may have been letting people through to get home or to get in line for the parade?

Nothing the Police could have done. Also even if the long bridge would have still been around you could not have used it either until the parade was finished in Jonesville. Only options you have is I77 or 268 to Ronda then to Bethal road. Same as when the Train comes through Elkin. Like tsulkalu said this Parade route has been that way for years. Just have to plan differently on that day.

I would put more blame on the state for removing the long bridge and not replacing it than the police. The parade route has been the same as long as they have been having a parade and with only one bridge you will have to go to 77 to make it around while the parade is going. The times of the parade were well publisized in the newspaper and also on WXII12 News. Everyone should know when it was going to be and plan accordingly.

Seems like the elkin or jonesville police department needs a little more training on how to direct traffic ... i shouldn't have to turn around at Combs and go all the qway back up past the hopsital, get on 77 just to get to Arlington area
